Great campaigns do not have to be about good things. Incorporating bad tastemakes people notice the campaign.
A TV personality sang a bland phrase ‘Coughs and sneezes spread diseases’ to a popular German national anthem with a Nazi salute. Till date people quote the line.
Wall’s Cornetto’s TVC was shot in a gondola in Venice. A gondolier sang ‘Just one Cornetto, give it to me’ to the tune of famous Italian song. It sold millions of ice cream, and people still remember the ad.
Unigate Milk’s campaign stole the line from the police campaign ‘Watch out there is a thief (Humphrey) about’ and turned that into a memorable ad.
R Whites lemonades used the phrase ‘secret drinker’. It referred to an alcoholic trying to give up.
