Blume, a venture capital firm, had organised Chai & Chatter last week, to discuss civic tech. The panel included investors, founders and a policy expert. They discussed if startups can solve the civic issues such as water, sanitation, air pollution and traffic management.
Bharath from Omidyar Network and Karthik from Sangam Ventures suggested that civic tech is for those, who think long term. They also cited how it is difficult to work with the government. So, it is important to understand the government and its agencies.
Advait’s startup Swajal is famous for making water ATMs. He aims to use provide the clean water using technology.
Deep from Peebuddy is building products, which solve the problem of hygiene for women. Other two products are Bodyguard, an anti pollution mask and Sirona, a product line for menstrual cups.
