Mint reports that Manipur is finally waking up to modern businesses. Earlier government jobs was the most common occupation. Entrepreneurs are setting up modern businesses after studying in Delhi and abroad.

They focus on local offerings such as food, crafts and fashion. Almost, all of them are bootstrapped. Though, they call themselves startups. They credit technology such as internet as the key driver of the new businesses.

Eli started Dweller, a tea shop. She chucked her job as financial analyst in Singapore to learn teas in Guwahati.

Richana runs Khumanthem, a fashion label. She has studied fashion in Delhi and UK.

Lipokjungla founded Ilando, an e-commerce website for crafts and artisanal products from the North East.

Nelson started Horizon, a crafts shop, after he closed the magazine with the same name.

Zeinorin runs Hill Wild Chocolates, an artisanal chocolate brand. He plans to produce candles and tea.

Tuingam started Secrets, a vegan cosmetics label. She launched 12 paragon free lipsticks.
