Vir Sanghvi’s favorite local food businesses

Vir Sanghvi is one of India’s best food writers. He appreciates if local food businesses reach out to him, instead of asking PR agencies to publicise for them. He featured four local food businesses, which are going strong during the lock-down.
Artisan Meats: Mehma and Meherwan started their business with INR 2 lakhs. They sell hand made Italian sausages, charcuterie, duck confit and meat. They are open for online orders during the lock-down.
T’aam: Asra and Adil run a catering company. It serves Uttar Pradesh style Awadhi cuisine. Their speciality is biryani and kormas. One can place online orders. They also cater for parties upto 50 people.
Nature’s Miracle: Karan Jolly started a hydroponics business. It grows vegetables and fruits in water sans soil. They sell salads, cucumbers, strawberries, tomatoes and peppers.
Fresh Brew Co.: Karan and Chandni started a packaged coffee business. It sells coffee capsules and cold crew. They also retail coffee machines from other brands.
Three out of four businesses use global technology, learnings and products to build local businesses. German small businesses are adapting by integrating with the global businesses. Indian businesses should also do the same.
