Startups are offering affordable marketing services to micro and small businesses. Currently small businesses do not focus on marketing, as their focus is on the operations and managing the businesses, and marketing services are expensive.
Instamojo, a digital payment startup launched Mojoversity. It is an online portal with video courses tailored to help start, manage & grow small businesses. It launched two courses; ‘Legal and compliance matters simplified for startups and SMEs’ & ‘How to grow your business using funnels’. Deasra provides end to end marketing services for small businesses. They also offer services such as business planning and funding. Mpaani offers digital services for growing businesses of small business owners. It aims to modernise local retail.
Sampad Swain, CEO and Co-founder of Instamojo, said, “Today, the MSME sector in India contributes to 37 percent of the country’s GDP and employs over 117 million people.Through the mojoVersity platform, we aim to democratise knowledge transfer by making available course content that will help small business owners learn and be more aware of the nuances required to run and sustain a business.”
It is early for these services to be useful, as we do not know how many businesses are using it actively. Government is also focussing on this sector with various initiatives. If the courses and the services succeed, micro and small businesses will become more professional and productive.
