Shielding restaurants from bad reviews
Online reviews do not matter for customer centric restaurants

Chef Davide Cerretini defeated Yelp, by asking customers for one star reviews. Bad reviews affect the sales of restaurants. Earlier he had shut down his restaurant due to the recession.
Davide Cerretini founded Botto Bistro, an Italian bistro. He had discovered that Yelp was manipulating reviews. Yelp removed five star reviews for this restaurant, after he had refused to buy the ads. Yelp denied it, but it did not share the process. Instead of asking for help, he asked customers to give one star reviews in exchange for a discount on pizzas. Thousands reviewed. His restaurant got more customers.
Davide says in an interview with The Hustle, “I didn’t come to America and work for 25 years to be extorted by some idiot in Silicon Valley.”
He suggests that restaurants should not worry about the reviews, and instead focus on their customers and food. Angry and aggressive reviews are unreliable.
