Small, thin Indian weddings
Rare downturn for Indian wedding industry
Rare downturn for Indian wedding industry
Indian weddings won’t be big fat Indian weddings. COVID – 19 and social distancing won’t allow more than 50 people to attend the wedding. Indian wedding market is worth $50bn.
Once it was slowdown proof, not anymore. Service providers for weddings such as destination marketers, photographers, hoteliers, weddings planners and caterers will not regain the businesses they had before the virus hit the industry. People do not want to marry with the masks on. The fear of contracting the disease has also affected the enthusiasm. Buffet dinners will not be possible anymore. It is difficult.
As per Skift: The average number of guests was 250, staying an average of three to six days. Most people, including Arora, would agree that’s modest: Indian weddings can draw up to 800 guests and go beyond six days.
The future weddings will be more intimate with close friends and relatives. Hotels have already started planning for such events. The role of wedding planners will be more important as planning will involve more details than before.
