Social media phenomenon is growing, not social media marketing
There is a debate on social media about the role of social media in marketing. A social media manager wanted to prove that social media managers are the most important people in the marketing team. 88% of the brands do not see any return on social media.
From early 2010s till 2018, social media managers were in demand. The explosive growth of users and user generated content made brands join the social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
Social media manager Anthony Yepez wrote in favour of social media, “Yes the entire marketing plan and every department involved is very important. I will never deny that and that was not my intention. The social team plays a big role and my point is just that we deserve more appreciation than what we typically get.”
Seasoned marketers feel that social media phenomenon is growing, while social media marketing isn’t. About 50% of social media users are fake. Social media is just one of many channels brands use to reach the audience, but not the only channel.
Marketing strategist Dennis responded, “This is a skewed logic, sorry. And, you probably dont want to hear this, but i think it CAN play a role, with LIMITED impact, in SPECIFIC situations. I will leave it to @markritson to explain in detail.”
Status update: Anthony is still not convinced that social media is not that important.
