Sona is one of India’s automotive stars. Their headquarters is in Gurgaon. Their products are used by every car brand in India.
Sona group is truly global:
Their plants are in India ( Gurgaon, Pune and Chennai) and Germany.
They make equipments ( precisions forgings) for 60% of car brands in India and 100% of commercial vehicles in India.
In Europe they are the only supplier to Daimler and Man trucks.
How big are they?
BY 2020 their turnover will be INR 10,000 crores. It puts them in the big league.
They recently sold their share in Sona Koyo steerings for INR 419 crores. They had 25% share.
Future plans: OEM for the electric car makers
Electric mobility is the future. They realise that electric cars and two wheelers will look for OEMs. Sooner they upgrade, better it is. Their competitor Vikas Group is also gearing up.
Sona will invest INR 600 crores, while Vikas ( a competitor) will invest INR 500 crores.
Entering China and USA. They are the top two markets in the world. Either of the markets may get them sales as much as now.
