Atul Gawande wrote ‘The Checklist Manifesto’. He argued that using checklists increases the chances of success, and decreased the chances of failure.
Businesses, big and small, can use the checklists.
Complex projects such as flying planes, surgeries and construction of skyscrapers rely on checklists.
It involves three steps:
1. Breaking down complex tasks into simple, verifiable steps, even when those steps appear explicit or mundane.
2. Keeping it short, between five and nine items, which is the limit of working memory. You must also “define a clear pause point at which the checklist is supposed to be used.”
