Brief:
Long work hours (8am to 5pm is common) are badge of honour for the entrepreneurs and business executives. People feel that it benefits the professional life and the business. It’s not true.
It results in burn out. Common symptoms of a burnout are anxiety, lack of sleep, upset stomach, constant fatigue, forgetfulness, constant buzz in the head, and at times swollen eyes.
Businesses owners and executives should avoid it at all cost. In fact, it costs nothing to avoid the burn out.
Learn to waste time:
QZ reports that wasting time is about recharging your battery and de-cluttering. Taking time to be unproductive will make you better at your job.
Start with rest breaks such as a walk, sitting in a coffee shop, sleeping, or just getting away from work.
Working for not more than five to six hours. Charles Dickens, Gabriel García Márquez, and Charles Darwin had quite relaxed schedules, working for five hours a day or less.
Don’t be guilty of enjoying the time by yourself, and not working.
