Noida Metro kickstarted its operations yesterday. It will connect the city from the rest of the Delhi-NCR. Till now, one could only reach it by the expressway and infrequent public transport.
Brief:
Aqua Line would run between Sector 71 station in Noida and the Depot Station in Greater Noida.
There are a total of 21 stations on the corridor. It covers a distance of 29.7km.
The trains will be clocking an average speed of 37.5 kmph.
The minimum fare is INR 9, and the maximum fare is INR 50.
No more a ghost town?
Greater Noida is a ghost town with 4 out of five houses vacant. Occupancy levels vary between 10 to 40%.
It had aimed to get 10lakh residents, but there are nearly 1 lakh residents.
The new metro line will change that. It will also help in bringing more businesses to the city, as it is cheaper, cleaner and nearer to Delhi.
